The Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series notes were firstly seen after the act of demonetization at the midnight of 8 Nov’ 2016.
Now,there are many more notes which are introduced in this series till date.These Notes are of the denominations:2000,500,200,50,10.This article will bring out all the facts related to Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series Notes.

These notes came into the market soon after the demonetization done by the government recently.These notes started circulating from 10 Nov’2016.They were the first notes with all new design in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series.Now lets talk about both of them separately.
The new ₹2000 banknote is a 66 mm × 166 mm in size and have magenta color. Obverse side features a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, the Ashoka Pillar Emblem and the signature of Reserve Bank of India Governor (Mr. Urijit Patel).It has Braille print on it, to help the visually challenged people. The reverse side features a motif of the Mangalyaan, representing India’s first interplanetary space mission, and the logo and tag line for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The ₹2000 banknote has multiple security features also like, See through register and Latent image with denominational numeral ₹2000,Windowed security thread,Seven angular bleed lines on left and right side in raised print (obverse).
This note is 66mm x 150 mm in size and have stone grey color. The design is similar to the current notes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, except they will come with an inset ‘A‘.At the obverse side a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi as well as the Ashoka Pillar Emblem is featured, with the governor’s Signature. It has the Braille feature to assist the visually challenged. The reverse side features a motif of the Indian heritage site of Red Fort, and the logo and a tag line of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The ₹500 banknote has same security features like 2000 with change in denomination numeral and number of bleed lines that are 5(five).
After the Stabilization of the market and currency flow, Rs.200 new note was introduced.The Reserve Bank of India described the 200-rupee notes as the missing link in the Renard series. Renand series is also known to be 1-2-5 series, in which a ‘decade’ or a 1:10 ratio is covered in 3 steps.This note is 66mm x 146 mm in size and have Bright Yellow color. At the obverse side a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi as well as the Ashoka Pillar Emblem is featured, with the governor’s Signature. It has the Braille feature to assist the visually challenged.The reverse side features Sanchi Stupa, and the logo and a tag line of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. There are 4 bleed lines and 2 circles between the set of 2 bleed lines.They will come with an inset ‘H’.
The present ₹50 banknote in circulation since 1996 is a part of the Mahatma Gandhi Series of banknotes.The new note was officially announced on 18 August 2017 to be released “soon”.The ₹50 banknote of the Mahatma Gandhi (New)Series is 66 × 135 mm in size and is of Fluorescent Blue color. The reverse side features an image of Hampi With Chariot,a Heritage Site in India.While the Observe side is same as the other notes in the new Series.On the reverse is a language panel which displays the denomination of the note in 15 of the 22 official languages of India and the Note has the same security features but there are no bleed lines.
4) Rs.10 Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series Note:
The ₹10 note was one of the first notes introduced by the Reserve Bank of India as a part of the Mahatma Gandhi Series in 1996, which is presently in circulation.On 05 January 2018, the Reserve Bank of India announced, a new redesigned ₹10 banknote.The ₹50 banknote of the Mahatma Gandhi (New)Series is 63 × 123 mm in size and is in Chocolate Brown color.
The front sides will have a number panel with numerals growing from small to big on the top left side and bottom right side of the Rs. 10 note.The reverse sides of the new Rs. 10 notes will have a language panel, motif of the Sun Temple and the Konark, and the denominational numeral 10 written in Devanagari script. The back sides will also have a Swachh Bharat logo with slogan.They will come with an inset ‘L’.
